Eastern Hog Nosed Snake

A common snake in the Boyne River Watershed.  This one looks a little wide in the middle, possible evidence of a recent meal. It flares its head to  intimidate the photographer. The ruse did not work so the snake retreats to the nearby wood pile.
Northern Red Bellied Snake

A small snake that has a coral red underside.

Detail of the head

We will add a picture of the red underside when available.
