Significant Issues |

Charlevoix County
now has a prescription
drug disposal program
The citizens of
Charlevoix County can
now call the Sheriff's
Office at
231-547-4461 to make an
appointment to dispose
of obsolete prescription
drugs. Manny of
the drugs are dangerous
and in the wrong hands
could lead to substance
abuse. The
drugs should not be
flushed down the toilet!
The Waste
Water Treatment Plant is
unable to remove them
from the effluent so
drugs that are flushed
down the toilet pass
right through into Lake
Charlevoix. We want to
thank Liaison Officer,
William Schneider, and
Detective, Charles Vondra
for their efforts to
improve both public
safety and the
environment. |

Fracking, the
hydraulic fracturing
of rock formations to
obtain natural gas
has become a significant
issue in Northern
Michigan |
|
The Tip of the Mitt
Watershed Council has
excellent coverage of
the issue on their
website. For more
