The postcard below of Boyne City's Old City Park was mailed in August of 1908.  The message gives some insight into steamship travel on the Great Lakes at the turn of the century.  Obviously, Amy was not very impressed with the young men that she met on the trip.

Dear Aunt Cora,

We arrived home Tuesday morn from Charlevoix and Boyne City at 5:30.  I slept good all night.  We had a state room…….300 on board, mostly Empire people and the surrounding country.  We knew nearly everyone.  We had a river trip, just $1.00 for the round trip.  We saw sailors, buffoons, lackeys, swells, morons, sloairs and some liars.  Good by from Glenn.  Cora, I wrote for Glenn as he wanted to go today.

Amy,
